About Bamboo

What is Bamboo?

Technically, bamboo is actually a grass, not a wood. It is the largest of the grass family plants. Bamboo grows extremely fast as compared to trees, and is one of the fastest growing "woody" type plants in the world. Bamboo can mature enough in 3-5 years to be used in flooring vs needing to wait multiple decades for hardwood trees to be useful.

Bamboo is considered Eco-friendly hardwood flooring because it can replenish itself so fast, and also helps save rainforest hardwood trees from being cut down for flooring. Bamboo flooring is also supposed to be more resistant to moisture and less susceptible to expansion and contraction vs. other types of hardwood floors.
